I had my GLE 350 in for service to fix an issue with the automatic courtesy exit of the steering wheel. They had to do a software up date that did fix this issue. On the way home, I noticed that the rear camera was not opening/closing at every stop. I assume that the software update had something to do with this similar to KN888888. I have been driving for over 2 weeks and I notice sometimes it does open/close a few times but then it stops. I assume that the camera has been calibrated and it stops the opening/closing. What a difference it makes!

Have to wonder why Mercedes doesn't send out a service bulletin so service departments ? This would help them resolve this camera issue and make their customers very happy

Just bought the ‘26 GLE. Issue persists. Thrilled I found this thread for my sanity (couldn’t figure it out) but pissed at the same time. Will be anxious to hear how this software patch pans out. Thanks!!

Hello All, I regret to inform you the software update lasted a couple of days only. It is now back to opening and closing when slowing down to a stop and when accelerating from that stop. It doesn’t happen all the time. Unable to determine what external factors causes the camera to deploy vs when it doesn’t. Sorry to get everyone excited as I had thought the nightmare was over. Maybe consumer58 can provide feedback from his dealer.

I had a software update and I also learned to turn off the parking assist because when it is on the parking assist is looking for open parking spaces when stopping. FYI the parking assist button is on center console...push the button or if backing up you will see the blue icon on lower left of the camera screen..click it off (turns white). Has to be done every time you start up. You will see a icon on your dash board that indicates parking assist is off.

So far so good.....the rear camera is staying shut.

Try it and see if this helps....good luck!

If you can, please make a copy of your service order from the dealer that performed the software update. That would be a big help. Thanks.

The service order states "Perform Software Update. Performed SCN CODING to Park control unit. They did add some sound proofing for the camera ( noise is still there but not as loud). FB number:
