They won't, you can undo the connection that deploys the camera. Its the biggest single connector and has 4 pins. Should be closest to the 2 pin connector that releases the trunk.

I've been watching this post as my brand new 2025 GLE 450 with 800 miles on it has been having the same problem. Was skeptical about a fix but took it to the dealer and initially they said "No abnormal winding noises observed. Observed sound of reverse camera actuation when coming to a stop or traveling at low speeds. This operation is by design and functioning normal". Initially I was disappointed, but then the advisor said that there were two codes. The mechanic said that he connected battery maintainer and Xentry VCI to vehicle. Performed and printed an initial quick test. Quick test found stored fault B 162997 (the data line between the reversing camera and the head unit has a malfunction). In a 26/17 (M B U X) stored fault B 229BF1 (the malfunction camera has a malfunction). In A40/11 (MFK). Processed faults in Xentry diagnosis. B162997 passed guided testing. Remedy for B229BF1 is check for software update and perform if available. No newer software available. Cleared fault memory.Performed and printed a final quick test. Performed determination of vehicle. Disconnected battery maintenance and Xentry V C I from vehicle. When i picked up the car i was surprised the noise was gone! I don't know if others have this same exact problem with the codes but I'm hoping I can help a few people with this post. Let me know if anyone has success. KN
What dealership did you use? Is the noise gone permanently?

What dealership did you have this procedure done at? Did the noise return or is it gone permanently?

I have a 2022 GLE350 that does not have the rear camera noise, and a 2024 E450 All Terrain wagon that does. So I conclude that the issue was introduced in 2023 and is not limited to “just” the GLE.

I posted a video of this issue and our specific expereince. The rear facing camera in oor 2025 Mercedes GLE450e cycles 15 times in a 2 mile 9 minute commute and Mercedes says this is working as designed?

Let me know if this is similar to what you are experiencing and how you feel about it by viewing the video and psoting a comment. The elast we can do is get the word out there if Mercedes is unwilling to dd anything about this design flaw.

A 2 mile 9 minute commute results in 30 clunks. A luxury experience Mercedes claims functions as designed?

2024 GLE 350 same rear camera issue. The calibration process does stop the camera coming out every time the car stops...but has to be done every time you start up the car. Drove 2025 GLE and this issue with rear camera does not happen. the 2025 has new software because the camera videos are different than those on the 2024. Asked dealer if this new software could be downloaded on the 2024 and they said not possible. They have ordered the sound proofing for the camera (copy of order below). They claim the sound will be greatly reduced......we'll see!

Didn’t work for me.

Obviously the only way to get their attention is a class action. Then they might come up with something. It's a safety issue - distracting, confusing etc. They have had hundreds of complaints and just given their owners the finger. It will probably be fixed with the next redesign but they need a recall. It is all cars, you just can't hear it in the sedans. I have both.

When I spoke to the service advisor in Palo Alto who said he had the same problem I asked him if he was able to implement the prescribed protocol ( drive under 18mph in a straight line for a quarter mile) to allow it to complete its cycle. He laughed. If you haven't tried it you should. Not to be dramatic but if some of the users seriously try to implement this protocol regularly someone will eventually die because of it.

Hello Guys,
So I went to my local MB shop on Monday for a transmission issue and oil change. Asked if there was a fix for the rear camera and they said they'd take a look. Picked up car today and they said they fixed it! Drove 5 miles home and so far no opening and closing every stop and go. Here is the MB receipt with repair details. Good luck everyone and hope you all get it fixed as well. It's been a long year for me. Let me know how you all make out.
