Though not a major safety issue the rear camera oroblem is another example of Mercedes knowing about and ignoring a problem that affects a majority of 2924/2025 GLE owners. That it is a safety feature is an insult to all Mercedes owners.
It absolutely is an example of a corporation saying Sorry - Not Sorry!! to their unknowing consumer.

We leased MB GLE450e 2025 at the end of February 2025. It was frustrating experience the begin with due to salesperson being very vague with everything, we should have walked away from the deal at that time. But here we are in the beginning of August and the car is at the dealership for the last 2 weeks. Around 5k miles the rear tires (Bridgestone that came with the car) went completely bald, smooth like skating rink. Very dangerous. Definitely those tires didn't not get this bald suddenly, they were dangerous probably at 4k miles, we just didn't pay attention bc it's such a new car. Both front tires are like brand new. We contacted the dealership and were told to bring the car in bc of the possible alignment issue. Immediately once arrived we were told that Oh it's Suv, as if we never owned SUVs before. Couple of days later we get an inspection report saying alignment is fine, but tires are bald (Duhhhh). What is making them bald,MB?!?! So MB decided to blame it on Bridgestone and contacted them for possible warranty. Bridgestone said that they'd pay for half of cost to replace the rear tires, they rest we have to pay. And here MB says :So our battery is placed in the back of the car which makes it bottom heavy and it's expected such a tire wear. How is it normal to go completely bald on rear tires at 4-5k miles? What is the point of the hybrid then? The sale pitch to us was it's a hybrid, you'll save some money on gas and enjoy the experience of a luxury car. Why do I even need a hybrid then, to save some money on gas (which isn't a lot ) but spend thousands of dollars on tires? If rear tires are completely bald at 4-5k miles , that means I'd have to replace them 3 times a year! This is insanity and what's really disheartening MB is acting like their design flaw such as heavy bottom car is now my issue! I'm very sure this is my last MB car ever. We lost all the trust in this brand. I have to mention my style of driving: im not an aggressive driver, my commute to work is 20 min,all paved roads, never dirt road, and I'm always careful since I have my son with me when I have to drive him to school and sports. I feel very unsafe in this car at this point.

Update: as of today MB corporate said there's nothing wrong with this car and nothing they can do blaming it on my driving habits. I should take them for a ride for total underwhelming snooze experience. But our MB dealership is saying it IS the battery that is heavy. So here we are,in the limbo. Fml

Not yet but I just found a recall
And when I asked nonchalantly my MB dealership about any recalls , they said No. And this is how I knew they lied to me. So I had to present them with this screenshot

I’m not sure I would accuse a dealership of “lying” about a recall unless I had proof. There may be other reasons, e.g., the dealership had not yet received the recall notification or incompetence by the service writer.

Updating on my 2025 MB GLE 450e, after an issue with the e-brake along with the ongoing turtle and issues switching between hybrid/electric modes, etc. I had enough and refused to take the vehicle back. We explored a replacement vehicle, but they wanted me to put more money into it (which was a ridiculous ask, they knew it too), so I went through the lemon law process (Colorado) and with assistance from the dealership, MBUSA bought back my vehicle and I got every penny back. I have since purchased a new Toyota hybrid and am very happy with it. Hope this helps for anyone else going through the lemon law process (I did reach out to a lawyer, but did not have to retain them, only mentioned it once with the rep from MBUSA and is seems to help move things along a bit faster, but overall, they were helpful).

You had more serious problems with your MB. Glad you got your money back.

Regarding the rear camera noise, MB gets around the lemon laws simply by declaring the noise is part of the design. So duplicitous!

What a sh*tty company.

Glad to hear you recovered from this fiasco. MB called me to test drive the new 450e, when I was looking to trade my 2021 450 (great vehicle). When I went down there they told me their only 450e was "awaiting parts" and not drivable; it sat there for 2 months That scared me. They offered to let me test drive the new EQE 450. First, I had trouble operating the pop out door handles; the salesman had to show me exactly where on the handle to pull...really, I need training? Then when we pulled out of the dealership the front trunk alarm starting beeping, loud and constant...and you can’t shut it off, nor open the trunk; that car also sat for months awaiting parts. Scared again. So, I ordered a 2025 GLE 580 -- 4,000 miles later, no issues; not ready to abandon the brand...yet. 🤞

Subject: A Reflective Statement on My Experience with the 2025 GLE 450e

I have always taken pride in my longstanding relationship with Mercedes-Benz, having purchased many MB vehicles over the years—including the famed AMG GLS model, various iterations of the S-Class, and the most dependable GLE 350 's . Over the years, my experiences have been a testament to the quality, innovation, and reliability that the brand is known for.

My recent purchase of the 2025 GLE 450e, driven by a desire to embrace Mercedes-Benz’s hybrid technology, was filled with high hopes. Two months into ownership, however, I encountered a series of unsettling issues. The vehicle unexpectedly shut down at speed, triggered limp mode, and displayed dashboard alerts—including engine warning lights and the “turtle” display—resulting in a complete loss of power. Initially, a faulty O2 sensor was suggested as the cause, but despite this intervention, the problem persists, and agian the car is returned to the dealership, my (wifes) car remains in the dealership's service bay now for over 13 days.

Reflecting on these events, I am reminded of the trust I have long placed in Mercedes-Benz. My loyalty was built on years of reliable performance and exceptional service, making this experience particularly disheartening. I have always admired the commitment to excellence and the innovative spirit that defines the brand, which is why I find the current situation so troubling. The issues with my(wifes) 2025 GLE 450e not only raise concerns about immediate safety of my family and functionality of the car but also challenges the enduring confidence I have had in Mercedes-Benz.

This reflection is not intended to assign blame to any individual at the dealership—the professionalism and courtesy extended by the service team and sales representatives have remained commendable. Instead, it is an honest account of my experience, a personal narrative of how a beloved brand has, in this instance, not met the expectations that have defined our longstanding relationship.

I share this reflection with the hope that it will contribute to a deeper understanding of customer experiences and inspire continued commitment to quality and innovation. Ultimately, I remain hopeful that the necessary steps will be taken to resolve these issues and restore the trust and confidence that have long been the hallmark of the Mercedes-Benz experience.

Sincerely,

Ben and Dana Oller
I share your sentiment about the brand. I was a 20 plus year mercedes owner and had similar battery and reliability with a new AMG SL63 purchased. I complained to the manufacturer and got a standard form letter, my 20 year loyalty many nothing.
I’ve since changed brands and have been happy with the Cayenne Coupe GTS and Macan S.

I have the 2024 gle 450e and we have had the braking issue common in that model. When we bought it they supposedly had solved it with a software patch but the brakes have locked up twice driving high speed in the mountains where I had to put all my weight on the pedal to get the car to slow down and eventually stop. MBusas solution for the time being was to only drive in sport mode while they tried to find a fix. It's been over 6 months since the last dealer visit and they finally just came back to say they have no solution.
I'm in colorado as well and would love your advice on how you got to recoup your full cost through the lemon law or what lawyer you spoke with. With all the 2025 issues im not sure if I would want to push for a replacement vehicle anyway.
Thanks.

Thanks

Mike

Hi! bought in Texas, Living in Florida. SO... we too are on schedule 20K miles, and all the things described. Did anyone set up a case with Mercedes? I just did for one, since I asked a safety issue, I have a 3 year old. I think we are getting OUT - going to Audi Electric. These is insane where an entire model is presenting these issues, and they are pretending like its not a thing. Use AI to process all your documents from repair and create a nifty summary, then it tells you based upon your state how to proceed. The dealers TRULY hate lemons laws from what I can tell, and between them and Mercedes they need to figure out. Remember most states have 24 month on lemon laws. Also Mercedes might be willing to give you electrics since they have tons of them. Consider your options, but at this time after reading all your wonderful details - its a GET OUT OF THE MODEL. Hope this is a helpful summary for everyone involved.
Major Reliability Problems:

  1. "Turtle Mode" Activation - Multiple visits for this exact issue that's plaguing GLE450e owners nationwide
  2. Engine Check Light Issues - Records show repeated check engine light problems
  3. Cooling System Problems - Multiple cooling system bleeding procedures and battery charger issues
  4. Hybrid Battery Drainage - Document shows "hybrid battery quickly drained itself from 75% to 0%"
  5. Camera/Sensor Malfunctions - Traffic sign assist and multifunction camera issues requiring replacement
  6. Charging Port Problems - Records show charging port issues and loose connections
Matches to Known Public Issues:

Your documented problems directly match these widely reported GLE450e issues:

  • Turtle Mode Failures - Your service records show this exact problem that's causing lemon law cases nationwide
  • Oil Cooling System Issues - Your records mention cooling system problems, matching the $22,000 oil cooling system replacements others are experiencing
  • Hybrid System Malfunctions - Your battery drainage issue matches reports of hybrid system failures
  • Camera Problems - Your multifunction camera replacement matches the widespread rear camera "clunking" issue in 2024-2025 models
Red Flags from Your Records:

  • Multiple visits for same issues - Shows recurring problems aren't being permanently fixed
  • Software updates repeatedly failing to resolve issues - Classic sign of fundamental design flaws
  • Hybrid system instability - Battery draining and charging issues indicate core powertrain problems
