I have a 2024 GLE 350 and when I slow to below about 15 mph I hear the rear camera engaging and then closes when accelerating above 15 or so mph. This seems very strange and not normal. Before I take it in, anyone familiar?
who is Fitzgerald? i'll write him also!! im tired of this noise!!Absolutely. I wrote Fitzgerald too. I'll believe the "fix" when I see it. They put the insulation from a GLS in my GLA. No difference. They should face a class action over this Rube Goldberg contraption. No other car has it. My dealer has tried but MBUSA has pretty much told me to get lost. "We don't have any contact with Germany." Keep the heat on.

Have a look at the other posts on this topic. All recent GLE’s have this irritating noise at low speeds and it is obviously an engineering mistake at Mercedes. This luxury car should never have been allowed to be released to customers with this malfunction. I complaint about it to my dealer and understand that BMW and Audi have rearview camera’s hut they do not have a camera lid that opens and closes (that is making the noise). There are rumors for a fix (and please Mercedes fix this as for the rest the GLE 450 is a great car) but nothing official yet.I would love to know the answer to that question.
Definitely would not buy another or recommend until this is fixed. It’s infuriating the mb response.I’m shocked MB hasn’t come out with a fix. My wife loves her GLE but not the camera noise. Not sure we’d buy another one. Appreciate everyone providing updates and still hopeful they will address.
Yeah. That’s all it is; “Insulation”. Doesn’t help with the noise much. The "kit" is just insulation used in the S. The difference in sound level is pretty much undetectable (I had my car done). The only solution would be a software update and an off switch. Need to keep the pressure on. Class action, publicity, word-of-mouth negative advertising. Don't give up. Maybe when they have a 6 months supply of cars on the ground they will get the hint.
Good point. I have an Audi A4 and all I do is put gas in it.I don't think German engineering is the problem. Mercedes engineering is the problem.
I had some issue on my 2024 GLE 450 with rear camera in and out at 15 miles. went to dealer 3 times, they keep saying it is normal operation . I did reach to MB HQ Germany, no help. My Mercedes service manager says that Germany is well aware of the design flaw. That they are indeed working on a fix and that they hope to have it soon. I told him until MB does indeed have a fix to simply program it such that it only extends when I put the transmission into reverse so I can see what is behind me. He was going to send that temporary solution request to Germany. We shall see.Got our 2025 GLE 450 coupe two weeks ago. It was fine for the first 100 miles, but now into the third week, we noticed the camera popping out every time we slow down to about 15mph. I thought this luxury car was supposed to be quiet but this camera noise is so irritating every time I drive it. It’s a 2025 car but the problem has been around for a while with other Mercedes models based on the forum. We need a fix!
I’d return the car completely for full refund since it’s so new. This won’t be fixed any time soon.My Mercedes service manager says that Germany is well aware of the design flaw.
