I have a 2024 GLE 350 and when I slow to below about 15 mph I hear the rear camera engaging and then closes when accelerating above 15 or so mph. This seems very strange and not normal. Before I take it in, anyone familiar?
I took mine all through Arbitration with the Better Business Bureau, After a lengthy process, they denied a buy back and said the cameras are acting the way they should. So very disappointing to say the least.Let us know please, im sick of it too, they should definitely do something, im going to post and tell everyone not to buy onejust because of this, i wish i would of stuck with bmw!!
MB's response sounds like artificial intelligence. MB doesn't even think enough of us to provide a human response.I have a brand new 2025 GLE 350. Same noise. I have an appointment with my dealer on Dec 8. Mercedes Benz USA sent me the same letter above “word for word”. After being an Audi owner of a Q8, Q7, Q5, I never had an issue like this. Other issues, but never with a camera with a clunk. I love German engineering but I’m starting to have my doubts. Hopefully MB has a fix coming.
I emailed him, too. Maybe negative press will yield a better Mercedes response. And hopefully make others think twice about buying this car if they are in the market. Thank you for sharing the email address.I have the email address of the Car and Driver writer who reviewed the GLE and I intend to make him aware of it. It's "jack.fitzgerald@hearst.com". Other owners should write him too.
And GLE 350 2024The problem is only with the "G" models. The sedans have a trunk to muffle the sound.
I’ve been told it has to do with cross directional traffic sensing. Also, I’ve been told it’s a system that is developing ultimately for the car to be autonomous eventually. They just need to develop the camera that doesn’t make perceptible noise when it’s in operation.Does anyone even know why the rear camera needs to deploy when the car is travelling forward?
