Received my GLE 300d Wed.

First off Congrats on your purchase.

I was a bit fearful of buying a four cylinder diesel powered SUV. I actually drove it four times during a two week period just to make sure it had some power. My sales rep Arno Orsini of MB Princeton was a complete gentleman and went above and beyond dealing with my apprehension. I've owned it less than a week and have driven from NJ to Brooklyn twice. It has a terrific pickup and getting on the highway is no challenge.

I'm an older gentleman and remember four cylinder cars from yesteryear. The only time you had good acceleration was going downhill, a steep downhill at that.

This is my first MB and it's a reward for retiring from work, and a Twenty Five year marriage anniversary. I was a blue collar guy and have saved my money during my working days and listened to some of you better financially able people about money and what it really is and represents. Thank you.

I questioned Arno about the difference in price to similar looking vehicles, and why there was a sometime ten thousand dollar difference. Well that's when Mr. Orsini became passionate. I expected some canned sales spiel, but suit and all we went under the car started looking at the structure of the underbelly, went inside the hood and looked at the layout. He pulled out door hinges from inside his desk drawers, as a matter of fact he had the door hinges from a car I was interested in as well as MB door hinge. The MB hinge itself was high quality and much more sturdy than the competitors. A smile remains on my face when I recall this lesson on MB and their manufacturing process.

A question I often ask people in the automotive world when I am unsure of a prospective challenge to help answer my dilemma is, " If I were driving your child with me on a trip to Florida and back would you..." I did not need to ask Mr. Orsini that question, I did not need to.

Back to you, how do you like your GLE?

Hello everyone.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back in touch. Too many long work days.

Anyway, we picked up our magnificent GLE on Saturday, as planned and we spotted it in the service/delivery area when we pulled in. My wife went to take a close look and she loved the Polar White with the Saddle Brown color.....needless to say, music to my ears. But the vehicle is really gorgeous!! We are so pleased that we went with the Saddle Brown interior. There is so much technology in the vehicle! The Driving Assist is going to take a few trips to get comfortable with but I think we are going to really appreciate the capability.

We haven't driven it very much, but it is truly a dream vehicle for us!

Cheers.

Good choice going saddle brown which from what i've seen really helps the interior pop out of all colors, at least in my opinion.

Were there any runner up's for the interior color scheme?

We were looking for something different. We were pretty well set on the exterior color, but we had tan in a previous vehicle, which showed every mark. We liked the idea of black floor and black roof and the contrasting Saddle Brown. We are so pleased that we didn't go with the old "basic black" interior.

So far, so good. There really isn't anything that I am disappointed with. We are still very early on, but I am very satisfied with our choice.

Cheers.

Glad to hear that people who have received their GLEs are happy with them. Would love to see some pictures though. Anything that you notice about the car now that you have it that you were pleasantly surprised by?

Been away for a couple of weeks. I have attached a few pictures that the dealer provided before we picked up our GLE. One comment I would make on the pictures, the interior appears a little orange, but it is actually a very pleasant brown.

We are extremely please with our choice and would not change a thing.

Best regards.

Welcome Back Cotter...

I see you are fortunate enough to live in the UK (Peterborough) where you can get not only the turbo six cylinder but also the nine speed transmission.

Looks like a very nice ride... Enjoy!

My US spec GLE300D4 (our version of the GLE250d) is on order.
