Looks like the GLE has more usable boot space then the X6, but it does have a more awkward loading lip then the BMW.

However, compared to its closest rival – the BMW X6 – it’s more usable. Boot space is good at 650 litres (70 litres more than the BMW). However, the big loading lip means getting items past it and into the boot could be tricky if they’re bulky or heavy. At least the standard power tailgate means you won’t have to manhandle the large hatch.

Seen some X6's as limos and I can bet those same companies might just stick with the X6 for the better loading although the status of an MB badge is tempting.

You must be doing a lot of moving around of stuff.

Fortunately it will be the odd times that this might be an issue for me, aside from that there's seeming to be much more positives than negatives with the GLE

I just figure that I am more likely to move things in and out of the car than to need to fill up the entire car. I think I'm pretty good at packing light.

then it doesn't matter terribly if you're putting shopping bags back there.

Whats interesting is i wonder who has more ACTUALLY useable space. Yea they can say it has xyz amount of space but if it can't get through the door or the space is weird what does it matteR?

There is definitely a difference between the cargo volume and how usable that space actually is. It's best to check it out at the dealership. Maybe bring a golf bag or something to test it out at the dealership.

Ultimately measuring tape to measure it yourself will be the best way to do it, that way you have a solid point of reference for what ever you want to throw back their.

supposedly the gate is a little more difficult then the X6...
