Mercedes-Benz unveiled a new infotainment system called MBUX at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Short for Mercedes-Benz User Experience, MBUX has the ability to learn thanks to artificial intelligence, which means it can be individualized and adapts to the user. The system is also designed to be future-proof by supporting over the air (OTA) updates. MBUX will enter series production in 2018 in the new A-Class, found in the high-resolution Widescreen Cockpit with touchscreen operation, navigation display with augmented reality technology plus intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition. Like other modern devices that support voice recognition, MBUX can be activated by the words, 'Hey Mercedes.'

The touchscreen system is similar to how you would operate a smartphone and it's something familiar to new and old car buyers, especially the option to just pinch and zoom the map. This familiarity could help put Mercedes on top.

Never had a system like this with prediction tech and I think it will fill in the void left by them not introducing Amazon Alexa and other similar tech. Oddly enough while MB didn't include it Toyota did on the new Avalon.

The new GLE's interior was spotted by autoevolution and it looks like the picture above, at least when it comes to the digital gauge cluster. I'm looking forward to the prediction feature and long term reviews of the system from journalists to see if it really works as advertised.
