The GLE will feature prominently, so I thought I'd add this here.

An interesting comment -- apparently Jurassic movies are becoming a Mercedes tradition >:)

As a reminder, though, Mercedes pulled the same stunt back in 1997, when it used “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” as the first official appearance of the then new M-Class. You could say this is a continuation of a tradition stared 18 years ago.

You gotta have someone's cars in the movie, so why not Mercedes-Benz? Cross promotion has proven to be very effective. Think of how many big movies have car or vehicle sponsors. Avengers had Harley-Davidson, Tomorrowloand has the Chevy Volt, etc...

Should make both the movie and the vehicle more popular.

I doubt MB owners would care for that but I just want to see GLC's customized specifically for use in the film, like how other cars have been for previous films. Avengers being one of them with a fleet of Acura's

Mercedes does need to be careful though. Cross Branding can come across tacky and forced. Yes it helps that they have an existing relationship, but regardless societally we're different now then when the original ML debuted.

Besides the original ML looked rugged, even if it wasn't the most rugged. The GLE unfortunately doesn't offer the same...look...

Yea the GLE doesn't have quite the same ruggedness to it. I don't think MB is in any danger here though. Cross promotion is so common place these days. It almost seems like the G-Class would have been a better fit for the role though.

I have not seen the film, but I think the G-wagen appears too?

It makes more sense to focus on the new product that needs marketing awareness

But there is the problem of product integration -- it shouldn't place the needs of the brand above what makes sense for the plot. Being new isn't a reason why the GLE would be in a imagined Jurrasic Park.

Anyways...

It'll make me feel better if the G-wagen is indeed in the film.

True.

Current GLE is much, much more buttoned up.

Do you think that having the GLE in the film increased sales at all? It is turning out to be such a successful film. Plenty of people are getting a look at the GLE that may not have otherwise.
Chances are it helped to an extent, more brand awareness, people now see the GLE and remember it as "that vehicle in Jurassic world"

With a film like Jurassic World, it will likely be watched a lot in the future as well. The initial investment for product placement is one based on the theatre showings largely, but Mercedes will have a constant brand impression in the movie even in the future when people are watching it on NetFlix.

Yeah that's the way it is with any episodic series that has a history like the original which seems to never fade away.

I guess we can say that MB struck gold with this deal.
