HI, I have just purchased a Mercedes GLE 350d Coupe AMG line premium plus in Designo Diamond White, this will be my 4th Mercedes having owned two E class and a ML, unfortunately the car has not got off to a good start in life having been back to MB dealership within the first month for a replacement media screen, also the plastic window trim fell off before leaving the show room so have a few build quality concerns already, wife regrets not buying X6 but luckily it's not her car so not her choice :laugh: the the intelligent LED head lights are superb 0

Sucks that we have to go through these growing pains but at least once the issues get worked out, the GLE will really stand out. But of course that depends on who you ask because just from a design standpoint the GLE is well ahead.

Nah wouldn't trust the wife with a Merc, she works in a very rural area with narrow lanes so she has a Suzuki Jimny as anything decent would get trashed, rather trash a cheap and cheerful Suzuki than the Merc

What were some of your main reasons for buying the GLE?

I have owned two E class and a ML, Range Rover, BMW, and Audi A6 Quattro to name a few, when the time came to change had a look at the GLC coupe which had just been launched, it felt small and cramped in comparison to the GLE, i am 6' 4" so like a bit of leg room.

I see RR sport and BMW X6's everyday on the road but I rarely see other GLE coupes so it's something different that stands out from the crowed, I like the sleek 'Coupe' look, at one time was considering the Porsche Panamera but decided the Merc or X6 was a lot more practical and suited my needs better as i also require a towbar which on a Porsche is just wrong so SUV it was.

There are small details that have been well thought out like the reversing camera only exposed when in use the rest of the time it's covered ... simple but great thinking . The combination of 4matic gearbox and adaptive air suspension makes long journeys fly past in comfort, the Mercedes-Me app is a nice additional touch, the voice recognition is probably the best i have used with no annoying 'sorry i did not understand' statements.

The X6 did feel more planted on the road in corners with a lot more car setup options via the I-Drive but to be honest there were too many, the Mercedes comand system is less confusing in my opinion and covers everything i could ever wish plus more in a day to day driving environment.

Based on previous dealer history i have more confidence in the MB dealership, every time my BMW went into the dealership i would get "we are investigating the problem" MB has always been a quick same day turnaround problem resolved, hopefully won't be seeing them for a long time

I will add the one pet hate i have with the GLE is the rigid parcel shelf, it is not possible to lift it up in situ if carrying anything higher than the shelf fixings due to the taper of the rear so it has to be removed and placed on the rear seat, the GLC coupe has a soft retractable roller shelf .... a lot better.

I can relate.. except your wife has a valid reason. Mine on the other hand.. just epicly terrible driving etiquette :|

From experience it all comes down to where you park and where you drive, if you plan properly and get stick to that routine it will take away a lot of potential for damage.

We end up paying a bit more for parking and so on but the long term benefit is worth it, plus who here would really complain about the cost of parking.
