Hi. I am seriously considering the new GLE350, but was surprised to find that it has 5.2" of ground clearance. My E350 (according to the website) has 5.75" of clearance. Something doesn't seem right. GLE is an SUV that doesn't seem that different from an X5 or an MDX that both have about 8.2". My E350 is a sport sedan. My car is lower than most because it's a sport and not a luxury edition. Maybe the sport edition is lower than the quoted 5.75 (say 4.75)? My main concern is that I hit large speed bumps all the time and I am tired of scraping the bottom of the car on them. I don't want to have the same issue with an SUV. Can you please explain how low the GLE350 (or latest ML350) really is and whether ground clearance is an issue for you. Thanks

carfind.ca lists the GLE-Class 350 d 4MATIC as having a 202mm ground clearance. So around 7.9 inches. Was the 5.2" from the Mercedes site?

It was 5.2 according to edmunds, msn, motortrand, etc. I didn't find any data on the Mercedes website. If it's really 7.9, it makes more sense and is totally adequate.

Yea, 5.75 inches doesn't make sense. That's the ground clearance of a coupe or something equally low to the ground. 7.9 is probably more accurate.

I'm 5'7" and have to hop a bit to get in and out of my GLE350. It is higher then my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder SL for sure. It was breeze to get in and out after installed the running board.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any confirming data about 5.2" on edmunds or motortrand. But i've found out the max. clearance of it.

Hope this will be interesting for someone. It is achieved through air suspension. Maybe 5.2" also - i don't know))

Speaking about normal clearance - this site http://autotk.com/dimensions/mercedes-benz/gle-class/2016/ shows 7.9". Looks like it's true, because GLE's competitors have the identical clearance.

Any other thoughts?
