Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and looking to purchase my first Mercedes SUV. I've owned several of their sedans in the past, but I have decided to get something that sits a little higher and offers more storage. I've heard the AMG models can be quite punishing on the driver, so I'm here to see what everyone thinks of their truck so far.

It would be helpful to know what you mean by "punishing on the driver." Presumably you heard this from AMG owners. If that is so then you already have the feedback you are looking for. I love my GLE AMG. The only criticism or improvement I would want is better fuel economy, but that doesn't exactly fit with the kind of power this vehicle produces.

Good move on choosing Mercedes but while I come from Mercedes as well I have been expanding my options. Seems like Audi is really heating up to offer some solid products.
Are you just interested in Mercedes?

Yeah I definitely don't think AMG drivers have fuel economy very high up on the priority list, but if I recall correctly Mercedes plans to switch over the AMG models to hybrids in the new few years. If that's true than your issue may be addressed soon enough. And no I'm not only interested in Mercedes, but have been tempted by AMG for quite some time. By "punishing" I was referring to articles that I've read suggesting high body motion.

In a way it matters because while they can probably afford filling up, another concern is how frequent they would have to fill up. However over the years I have seen how even owners of high end high performance vehicles tend to drive in low RPM's, its in that you can really get good mileage.
