A 2025 GLE450e produces 30 clunking noises during a typical 2-mile, 9-minute suburban commute because the rear camera calibration process never completes under normal driving conditions. According to Mercedes' own service bulletin, the calibration requires the vehicle to be driven in a straight line on an asphalt road at a speed below 18 mph for approximately a quarter mile. Since this rarely occurs in daily driving, the rear facing camera constantly cycles, causing the clunking sounds throughout the drive. Mercedes claims this is a safety feature and that the system is functioning as designed. Thoughts?
