2019 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Spotted In Action

YouTuber Supercarsfromeu, captured on film a new generation GLE 63 being test driven on the Nurburgring, Nordschleife and the chances of it being an AMG model is quite high thanks to the SUV's prominent Panamericana grille. Said grille is already being used by the AMg GLC and GLC Coupe.

If that is indeed the AMG variant, then we can expect to see a beefy body kit under that camouflage wrap, larger wheels with upgraded braking system, and a V8 powered MHA platform.

More specifically, we may see a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine under the bonnet in two levels of tune; a 563 hp and 553lb-ft of torque variant, or a more powerful 603 hp and 627lb-ft of torque ‘S’ model. That is similar to what you would find in the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S, with the performance trim accelerating from zero to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

Diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains could potentially be offered as well, though those in the States may not see the diesel option due to the whole VW Dieselgate scandal and they just don’t seem to be as popular compared to Europe.

The regular 2019 GLE is set to launch next year and the AMg varaints should follow shortly.

Hard to be sure if what we're seeing is really the AMG. I watched the video and there are three different grilles shown, so that's three different vehicles that may or may not be the AMG GLE.

1:30 mark shows whats obvious an AMG model. The way it looks and even sounds indicate that. We have enough AMG models out right now to learn these cues from. All the other GLE's are probably lower trims.
Think one of them is the speculated AMG S model with Mercedes testing the standard AMG model on the same day?

Your guess is as good as mine because there are so many ways for them to hide it being a pre-production model and the more exciting the model gets the more they try to hide it. Sucks, i know. We just have to be patient.
2019/20 GLE with straight-six?

Per Autoweek, it looks like the next GLE 43 may be replaced by the 53 and perhaps the 63 AMG becomes the 53 AMG (if it follows the CLS)? "The GLE midsize crossover is another candidate for a 53 model. The GLE will be redesigned in 2018 with a likely U.S. on-sale date in early 2019. The AMG model would come after that."

Personally, I can't see a real AMG in this video. It's just the regular GLE with and without AMG Package.

Keep in mind that during these testing stages there's so much going on that we don't know but there's enough going on here to suggest it is indeed an AMG model, chances of that being true are quiet high. Even if its not, we don't have much of a wait till it comes out anyways.
