Back in February I custom ordered my fully-loaded GLE 43 Coupe and it finally came in last week! I absolutely love everything about the vehicle; the power, the smooth and quiet ride, the sound system, the beauty (duh)... My only gripe is the "multicolor" ambient lighting upgrade. This was a $310 upgrade and I'm very disappointed with the fact that there are only 3 color choices, and the light is much dimmer and less vibrant that the E class.

This vehicle was about $20K more than a fully loaded E class so I'm pretty disappointed that Mercedes skimped on this feature. I just can't understand the thinking behind this...

Complaining aside, does anyone have any suggestions for an aftermarket solution? Preferably one that is comparable to the E class implementation...

Welcome! There is a 12 color aftermarket ambient light kit from China, but I have no idea about the quality of the product. It doesn't show direct compatibility for the 43, but it may be worth reaching out to them to confirm. Pretty ridiculous that the new A-Class is looking to have a better ambient lighting system. I'm guessing that MB didn't think any GLE owners would have much interest in it.

Its important to note the new A-Class is part of a new Mercedes styling direction, the GLE isn't part of that, actually not many current Mercedes products are.
