Mercedes-Benz has released the pricing information on the brand new 2016 GLE-Class crossover. It will start at $52,025 which is a $2,800 increase in price over the 2015 Mercedes-Benz M-class that it is replacing. That price also includes the $925 destination charge.

The GLE can be thought of as a heavily revised ML. It has new head lamps, front fender, front and rear bumpers, and LED tail lamps. It also has a redesigned cabin. Along with these changes the GLE-Class will also come with more standard equipment than the ML. This is most likely why there has been a significant bump in the price.

The US will see 7 different version of the GLE-Class. The base GLE350 will start at $52,025. There is then the all-wheel drive GLE 4MATIC which will be priced from $54,525.

Mercedes-Benz will be offering two high performance GLEs. There is the GLE63 AMG priced from $100,875, and the GLE63 S AMG priced from $108.025.

The GLE300d 4MATIC is a diesel variant of the GLE. It will start at $53,425.

Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid/electric model, the GLE550e 4MATIC. That variant has not been priced yet and will arrive in early September.

The GLE-Class is due to arrive in US showrooms in early August.

Mercedes did well with design on this, inside and out, especially the rear.

Seen pictures of the rear, driving or idling behind one in traffic will be a joy :D

Anyone want to wager on the pricing of the GLE550e 4MATIC? I'm guessing $75k.
That seems to be just about right, when looking at the price of the AMG version, $75k puts it right within where it should be down from its AMG brother, maybe even a bit higher, high $70k's?

I really like the C pillar. The forward slant makes the back end look pretty interesting. The pricing seems fairly reasonable. I'll be shopping at the lower end of the range for sure though. I know options can add up quickly.

I find that the C-pillar being shaped like that makes it sportier.

Yea, it gives it the illusion of a more slanted back end. Makes it look sportier, and I think that is the trend right now. I think that that C-pillar will look better in a darker color.

it's a good move since they have a coupe model and this is the 'regular' one, at least even with the 'regular' model you get some coupe flare going on... not at a total loss!

I think that the Coupe version is like the cool soccer mom SUV as opposed to the actual SUV. Its almost like how everyone used to have mini vans, and then they moved to SUVs. I guess that soccer mom car trends come and go.

While it might be cooler, it might be not as functional for some as would minivans are

True, but I think that many are willing to give up the usability for the style. Obviously I suppose since these vehicles are selling pretty well.
