
Following the release of the 2016 GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC Coupe earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz is now unveiling the SUV version: the 2016 GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC SUV.
Standard with the GLE 450 is AIRMATIC air suspension, variable adaptive damping system, and automatic level control. The SUV also comes with some more aggressive body panels, dual chromed tail pipes, 20-inch five-spoke wheels, and exclusive trim.The third new model in the Mercedes-AMG lineup, the GLE 450 will be offered with the same powertrain as its coupe sibling, a biturbo 3.0L V6 with 367 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Power will go to all four wheels via a nine-speed transmission, and will be split 40:60 with a bias to the rear wheels to enhance handling.
Top speed is rated at 155 mph and Mercedes claims a zero-to-62-mph time of just 5.7 seconds. The SUV, like the coupe, will also come with five driving modes: Individual, Comfort, Slippery, Sport and Sport+.
Technology in the GLE 450 SUV includes adaptive braking, attention assist, collision prevention assist, start-stop, pre-safe and crosswind assist. Optional features include Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control, driving assistance package, and climatized front seats.
Fuel economy should come in in 38.2 mpg combined.
