AMG GLE43 (W166) exhaust noise

Like the new car, but find the exhaust noise tiresome.

The dealer has suggested fitting a muffler from the ML, which he said has helped with the exhaust noise on the regular GLE. (There's another thread about this on the forum.) Has anyone tried this? I assume the insulation/baffles inside the ML muffler are different... I know that the tips are different. And, I assume that I will lose a bit of power. But, noise abatement has higher priority.

Dealer also notes that noise is added to the cabin in Sport and Sport+ modes by the sound system, but only under heavy load. He can turn this off by "pulling the plug." I think I will ask him to do this.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Are you by any chance interested in aftermarket brands? Brands like Hamann and even Brabus might have an alternative.

I would start with disabling the noise that's being piped into the cabin. I personally wouldn't start making any tweaks to the exhaust setup, as that's been heavily engineered by MB.

Odds are Mercedes already has a process for doing it for their own needs, when road testing has to be done at high speeds, you can bet that creating the best environment to observe odd sounds will be one of them.

That noise there to give it the engine note and is per design. I thought that's a good feature, being an AMG. Anyway how did it go, were you able to disable?
